The problem is that most people are unaware of what they should include in a healthy diet and how they should monitor their health. Regular exercise is a main feature of a healthy lifestyle. Working out is one of the best ways to keep your body in shape, but the exercise routine should be followed to the letter. But how can you actually check whether you’re on the right track in maintaining a healthy lifestyle?

The first thing that you need to know, if you want to lead a healthy lifestyle, is your body mass index or BMI. The BMI primarily allows you to determine the amount of fat content your body should possess based upon your height and weight. The average human being should not have a BMI rating of more than 25.

A healthy lifestyle also requires that you keep an eye on your high density lipo-protein (HDL), low density lipo-protein (LDL) and triglyceride levels. In simple terms, HDL is known as “good cholesterol” whereas LDL is the “bad cholesterol”. Basically, your body requires HDL to remove LDL from your bloodstream. Hence, completely eliminating cholesterol from your diet negates the basic concepts of a healthy lifestyle.

Unhealthy habits, such as smoking, should be eliminated from a healthy lifestyle. For smokers, there is no such thing as a “healthy lifestyle”.

Blood pressure is also something that you have to keep under control. Maintaining your blood pressure is not that hard once you start living a healthy lifestyle. Your glucose levels, in particular your C-peptide levels, are of utmost importance since they help you determine how hard your body is working to control your blood sugar level.

A healthy lifestyle has positive impacts on all aspects of your life, such as increasing your productivity and allowing you to lead a long, happy life. All that is required from you is a little hard work and perseverance.
